Description
Sealed shoulder widening to 2.5km of Binalong Bay Road (5km of Shoulder).
This project features low complexity at grade widening works in a rural environment. Key challenges to be successful managed include subgrade treatment, management of peak period tourist traffic volumes, management of impact of project delays resulting in works over winter period. Pavement construction / dry back in winter months with limited sunlight due to heavy tree coverage. Management of threatened flora and stakeholder management.
The Works included but were not limited to the construction of the following key elements:
- Quality management
- Traffic management
- Environmental management
- Community and stakeholder engagement
- Clearing, grubbing
- Earthworks including excavation in rock
- Pavement construction
- Repair of pavement failures including asphalt surfacing
- Bituminous sealing
- Construction of surface drainage
- Construction of subsurface drainage
- Construction of underground stormwater drainage, including associated structures
- Roadside safety barrier installation
- Supply and installation of signage and re-use of existing signage
- Reinstatement of disturbed areas
- Linemarking and pavement markings including installation of raised reflective pavement markers
Special features of project:
- Management of scoped work in conjunction with repairs to existing pavement failures, including test pitting and geotechnical investigation of entire site to determine pavement repairs strategy.
- Maintenance of site across winter shutdown and recommencement with introduced environmental considerations due to revised timing of the works.
