Description

This project included the upgrade of drainage infrastructure on South Arm Road between Jetty Road and Saltair Court. The project involved the construction of a drainage network to drain the western side of the road, reducing the risk of pooling water creating a traffic hazard, reducing flood risk to properties on the eastern side of the road, and improving amenity for road users, bus users and pedestrians.

The Works included but were not limited to the construction of the following key elements:
  • traffic management.
  • pothole and accurately establish the physical location of all services within the construction area prior to any construction work commencing;
  • construct sub soil drains;
  • construct concrete kerb and channel and v-drains;
  • construct 300mm nominal diameter reinforced concrete pipe drainage and associated pits;
  • construct 300mm nominal diameter polyethylene drainage pipes and associated pits;
  • construct stormwater “stormtech 740’ storage swale chambers
  • construct full depth pavement reinstatement, including geofabric, asphalt and line marking;
  • construct sealed asphalt driveways to property boundaries;
  • construct swale drains;
  • construct bus stop laydown including a masonry block retaining wall.
  • construct a second bus stop laydown area
  • install bollards, signs and adjust existing signage;
  • topsoil and reseed all disturbed surfaces.
Special features of project:

DCS identified a high risk associated with the excavation profile required for the block / geogrid retaining wall structure and offered a ‘Verti-Blcok’ wall system which eliminated the use of geogrid and significantly reduced the excavation profile required.
