Description
The project involved the construction of 4.5km shoulder widening on the Lyell Highway between Hamilton and Ouse (9.0 lane km of shoulder). The works involved earthworks, drainage improvement, subsoil drains, pavement construction, surfacing and line marking.
The project involved the construction of:-
- Quality Management
- Liaison with landowners
- Traffic management
- Environmental management
- Clearing and grubbing
- Earthworks
- Supply and placement of pavement base and subbase material
- Supply and placement of bituminous surfacing
- Drainage and stormwater works including surface and subsoil drainage
- Liaison with public utility authorities including Telstra, TasNetworks and Tasmanian Irrigation
- Installation of traffic facilities including steel beam guard fence, pavement marking and signs
- Topsoiling and hydromulching
- Sundry minor works
Special features of project:
- Management of threatened flora outside the permit to take area.
- Management of sealing design and dates ensuring successful application given seasonal constraints.
- Successful staging ensuring adequate site drainage throughout the construction works
- Supported DSG through resolution of drainage design issue, including early identification of the issue, survey and design of solution within DCS Civil.
